It's All About Gold at Sunday Stamps!

Welcome to another challenge over at Sunday Stamps... and another post from me after about two weeks. :) What can I say, life has been busy! This time around we've got a colour challenge - Blackberry Bliss (so yummy!), Rich Razzleberry, Garden Green & Gold.

I needed some wedding cards, so I thought this colour combo would be perfect. The picture doesn't do this card justice. The gold foil really looks like a gold bar in real life and as if the gold foil wasn't glam enough, I used gold for the card base and sentiment, lots of embossing, gold-threaded ribbon & gold-wrapped baker's twine. :) Since I didn't want to add too much green, I only used a hint of it to peek out from behind the sentiment.

I thought I'd share another project with you for this week's colour challenge:

This was actually my original design for the challenge, but omitted it because of the scrap banners I used that consisted of a few other colours other than what the challenge calls for. While this would probably be okay since the majority of my project still uses primarily Pink Pirouette, Smokey Slate & Tempting Turquoise, I'm glad I challenged myself to try a project using just those colours. :)

This was a card I created for my SIL who is getting married in May. I attended a shower for her yesterday and this card certainly impressed! ;)

Colour Me... Bermuda Bay & Daffodil Delight!

It's not unlike me to be working away on a project and then get easily sidetracked (sometimes several times!) in the middle of it as ideas come rushing in. Rather than jot them down on a piece of paper, I have to implement it right that minute!!

This is one of those projects I created in the middle of 3 other projects I was working on. And as I was implementing the idea, I remembered the colour combo over at Colour Me...! this week. So here's my card:

I was working away on a custom order when I got a glimpse of my oval punch and next thing I knew, my mind was picturing bunny ears and a body made of punches. But not glued onto a card, punched through it so that you could see it from both sides. I added a piece of window sheet between my 2 layers so that I could add the tail (and you can see the bunny when the card is both open & closed). I also added a small strip of paper to write on because I didn't want someone to write across the entire card and ruin the clean image of the bunny when the card is closed. :)

No Peeking for Sunday Stamps

It's a sketch challenge today at Sunday Stamps! I've been so excited for this one... check it out:

I created this card a while ago and am just noticing now how dark my picture is. Sorry about that! Anyway, Joan created such a great sketch for this week's challenge - it's so versatile! I know I'm using a retired set, but I just couldn't resist bringing out these adorable guys again this year.

Paired with some Washi Tape and a few jewels, this card took less than 10 minutes! Of course, I didn't forget the inside either:

Using Scraps

If you saw my series on scraps, then you know that I save every little piece of paper. :) The other day I showcased a card and today's post uses scraps from that card. You can check out the post here.

Tools: Big Shot, Petals-a-Plenty TIEF, Lattice Bigz Die, Artisan Label Punch, XL Oval Punch

Usually I don't save the tiny scraps from the Lattice Bigz Die, but because I cut it out using Glimmer Paper, I thought about saving them and using them in another cutout. I chose Whisper White and went with the Silver Specialty paper for my card base.

I wanted this card to be shimmery and simple, so I stuck with similar tones, and added a pop of red (also a scrap, by the way!). I heat embossed the sentiment and at the last minute decided to emboss my red banner. Glad I did it.

Christmas in July Series - Post 4

Good morning and welcome to the fourth post in this series. If you're just tuning in for the first time, I'm showcasing cards that use non Christmas stamps to make Christmas cards! Here's today's:

Aside from sentiments, the goal of this series is to us show you that you don't need to own a ton of Christmas stamps (or maybe any at all) because you can use what you've got in your stash! This is one of my favs. I love the colours and the tone-on-tone stamping and heat embossing - both in Pool Party! All the stamping, minus the sentiments, are from the same stamp set, Everything Eleanor. What a great set this is! I have used it a lot... there are so many fantastic images that are great for layering.

Hope this series is inspiring you to use your non Christmas stamps to think outside the box!

Life lately has been nothing but house hunting! We are desperately trying to find a house that is within our budget and fits our family. We have seen 60+ houses, put in two offers that fell through and are still looking! :(

This card is one I made over a month ago, before all the craziness, to try and use up and showcase retiring products. I mixed some retiring colours with a long retired stamp set (Extreme Elements), Bigz Die (Stars #2) and a new stamp set & punch (Label Love & Artisan Punch).

It's a simple card, but wanted to share so that you know I'm still alive! haha I haven't even had much time to play with my new goodies! Wish me luck on finding a house so that I can relax a little and get back to what I love most!

Doily Thanks

This card was one I designed for Sunday Stamps several weeks ago, but never got around to blogging about it. :( My life lately has been insanely busy!

My design was partially inspired by a card seen on Pinterest - a large background stamp was used and cut into quarters (or I assume so anyway since that's what I did). The card on Pinterest was quite simple... I jazzed it up by stamping the fuller image again and then adding a sentiment. Check it out:

I'm really happy with the way this card turned out. I created an abstract layout that I felt fit with the way I stamped my image. I kept this card fairly simple... no bling! But I did add lots of dimension with some embossing and popping up my sentiment in two spots.

Sunday Stamps Sketch!

I don't know about you, but May has been a crazy month! It's been jam-packed for me and after today, I'm looking forward to a little bit of relaxation time... and hopefully more stamping! I did manage to find a brief moment the other day to work on my design for Sunday Stamps this week though. I'm hosting and have put together a simple sketch:

This sketch is so versatile... and the beauty of sketches is that you can use them as a starting point for inspiration - flip them, move the elements around, change the shapes, etc. I decided to stick pretty close to the sketch, just changing out the sentiment shape.
