Dragonflies & Tea Lights

I've been inspired a lot by painting and mixed media lately and decided to play around with a piece last night. This is what I came up with:

I posted a few in progress pictures on my Instagram feed yesterday and promised to share the full view today on the blog. I'm so in love with how this turned out!! I started by blending ink (Mint Macaron, Bermuda Bay & Emerald Envy) on a wood canvas. Next, I used the Timeless Textures stamp set to add some texture around the edges with Whisper White ink. Once that was dry, I used the splatter image and added heat embossing with copper. As an after thought, I also stamped some small dragonflies throughout in the various inks. Here are some different looks...

Next came the hexagon tea light holders that I created using the Window Box Thinlits. I love the floral cutouts. They fit a tea light perfectly and to continue with the copper accents, I added some copper washi (from the Affectionately Yours pack) and glued a panel of Copper Foil inside so that the light would bounce off of it.

Lastly, I added the small & large dragonflies that I cut from Copper Foil using the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits.

Until next time, stay crafty!
